Our Sober Living Homes in Los Angeles

One of the families I delivered to today had been sleeping on the floor since they moved into their new house. We ended that by giving the kids bunk beds and their mom a new full sized bed. I heard about New Life Warehouse from a friend who knew I was looking for a place to do some volunteer work.

Just like an addiction treatment program, a sober living facility should meet the needs of the loved one someone is wanting to help. Residents also attend to work, school, and other personal pursuits. The goal of Granada House is for sober living residents to gradually become self-reliant, in the safety of a sober environment.

We attend Grace Family Church, and I joined the NLW board in 2023. I felt called to serve NLW after volunteering with my family and seeing firsthand the substantial and growing impact the organization has had throughout Tampa. As I looked at the non-profit organizations, I noticed that they needed this support for their families as well. Many families loose everything they have due to incarceration, loss of a job, rehab, a traumatic event, and human trafficking.

Granada House Structured Recovery Community for Young Men

I was introduced to New Life Warehouse through my church, Grace Family Church. After hearing all the wonderful things they are doing to help families make a fresh start by furnishing their homes, I knew that I wanted to be a part of this incredible mission. The work they do is truly transformative and is changing the lives of families in our community for the better. I am inspired by their commitment to providing support and resources, and I’m excited to contribute to this impactful initiative. Compelled by Christ’s love, we envision a world where no family recovering from homelessness is without the comfort of a furnished home. Through the gift of gently used furniture and household goods, we seek to restore dignity and inspire hope, as we help families start over.

Our structured sobriety programs, compassionate staff, supportive community and decades of experience support young men and their families at every step on their path to recovery. New Life Warehouse collects used furniture and household goods from people in the community and delivers them to families recovering from homelessness. We pickup furniture donations and accept drop-offs at our warehouse. We receive referrals from social workers who have identified familes suffering from furniture poverty.

Imagine having a kitchen but no pots or pans to cook with, or table to eat at. Your donations help ensure no one is eating or sleeping on the floor. You help improve the quality of their lives and provide them with dignity and hope. Empty houses are transformed into warm, safe, stable homes for families in need. You are also preventing furniture from being thrown into landfills, which helps our planet. Established structured sober living provides a distraction-free environment without having to pass by the dealer’s house, endure toxic relationships, or be tempted to party.

We offer multiple locations, and all facilities are conveniently located near an assortment of attractions, such as beaches and parks. To add, public transportation within town provides easy access to our halfway houses. For those coming from out of town, Los Angeles offers a central location easily reached by car, plane, bus, and train. John Twomey came to Granada House over 4 years ago from South Carolina. He prides himself being a part of the community, as well as being a part of the guys lives. He strives to create the same environment that he experienced so that can be the case for others.

I am honored to be on the board and support their passion for service, deep-rooted integrity, and unwavering commitment to community restoration.

The first time I went there, I fell in love with Stephanie, her heart for the hurting and her mission to help those in Tampa Bay. No one should be sleeping on the floor and at New Life Warehouse we will continue to do our best to see that become a reality. This ministry is more than just supplying essentials to those in need, it is about sharing Jesus and giving them hope. Lives are being transformed; not just the families we serve but also every one of us who volunteer. I was drawn to New Life Warehouse because it meets people at a critical point in their journey—with compassion, dignity, and practical help.

It is highly recommended teens and young adults remain in a halfway house for at least a year. This offers them the best chance at achieving emotional and physical recovery from addiction. In fact, those who participate in a long-term program at any age experience a generally higher success rate. We specialize in helping young men often classified as “failure to launch“, providing them with the necessary toolset to go out into the world successfully, and refocus the direction of their lives. Addressing much more than just drug abuse or alcohol addiction, Granada House helps young men launch.

The residents can stay engaged with alumni who are out in the world, living successfully, but love to continue to participate in the program. Generally, when someone is looking to join a sober living home it is because they or their family want a supportive or transitional environment. Here, they can safely acquire the skills they will need to live independently. While some are just looking for stable housing and a chance to practice ongoing sobriety, families are drawn to Granada House for different reasons. After graduating from New Life recovery house in 2022, he embarked on a mission to pay it forward.

At the time, long-term, sober living resident services for teens and young men in Los Angeles were unavailable. Soon after admitting the younger people, certain things became apparent. The disparity in their emotional ages, social skills, and life experiences was significant enough to require different approaches for each group of men for sobriety.
